The Life and Legacy of Doris Jones Beavers
Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On September 30, 2020 Doris Jones Beavers joined her heavenly family and gained her wings. Doris was born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi. She attended the infamous Oak Park High School. She went on to earn educational degrees from University of Southern Mississippi and more advanced degrees from Prairie View A&M University. Doris was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her sons and worked tirelessly to mold and shape them into the respectable men they are today. She embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as 'Nana' and "Tee-Tee'. She had a vivacious personality that demanded respect and always made people around her laugh. She kept her circle of friends small, however those that have that distinction knew who she was. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesian 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just and God also forgave you in Christ."
She is the loving and devoted mother of Shonne (Jaquoyah) Beavers of Tomball, Texas, and Whonne Beavers of Castle Rock, Colorado. Adored ‘Nana’ of Lexiya, Sierra and the late Samatha; Adored ‘Tee-Tee’ of Sydney (niece/goddaughter). Loving daughter of the late Sam Jones and Ida Mae Jones of Laurel; Dear sister of Larry Jones of SoSo, Mississippi; Barbara (John) McLaurin of Laurel, Mississippi; Sharon (Willie) Elverton of Jackson, Mississippi; Sheldy Starkes (Freddy) of Austin, Texas, and the late Richard Bruce of Atlanta, Georgia. Additional love of a host of many nephews and nieces. She loved and touched her family deeply. The woman who loved life and taught her sons to 'finish everything that you start' is now safely in the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ. She will be missed as a mother, grand-mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
